"Everywhere, Everywhere, Christmas tonight."
Christmas and we all slept late. After breakfast, Sally and Peter went for a walk while Mother started right in getting dinner. I gathered up the wrappings from around the Christmas tree and burned them. We all had dinner together, Father and Mother Peck, Sally and Peter, Tess and I and it was Mother's usual fine dinner. Father Peck gave us the turkey and we had for desserts a big plum cake that Mr. and Mrs. Allan Colvin of New London had sent to us from County Down, Ireland. It was wonderful. We spent the afternoon at home, mostly washing dishes. Then went down to Harley's this evening, had supper with them, and came home in good season. We four sat around the fire, watched the Christmas tree, and again played the Christmas Carols on the Edison. Sarah has been so happy today with Peter. Tessie and I received over 350 Christmas Cards, many of them from our Rotary friends. It means so much to be remembered.
