Friday, January 25, 1929 In Springfield, Massachusetts this morning at Kimball Hotel. After paying the bills covering the two days convention, I started to drive home, leaving at about 10-30. It was snowing hard and the ground was well covered when I reached Hartford. It had turned to sleet and froze on the windshield. I drove from Hartford to Meriden with the windshield open and nearly froze to death. I stopped in Meriden at our customers store H.M. Chittenden and they arranged two wax candles on the inside of the windshield that kept the ice melted away. I then came on down home in fine shape. Sally called at the store and we came home together. After dinner, I shoveled the snow from the sidewalks.
