Thursday, July 4, 1929 Home all day. Worked in the garden all day. Planted the Dahlias and hoed and dug up the borders. Opened up some bales of peat moss and crumbled it up ready to put on the soil. T.P.H. and Sarah busy as can be getting Sally ready for her trip abroad Saturday. They are going down tomorrow and spend the night with Cally Davis at Plainfield, New Jersey. I will go down Saturday and meet them at the boat. It has been an ideal "Fourth of July" weatherwise. Clear and sunny but not too hot. Rather a quiet one out here as far as fireworks are concerned. Richmond Curtiss came home today from Fort Ethan Allen. He has been teaching there since college closed. He knew nothing of Ruth's death until he got home. It nearly floored him.
