Sunday, July 14, 1929 Another beautiful day. Very hot. Thermometer at 90° at noon. Someone had a hard shower to the North West of us and it cooled the air a lot till tonight it is very cool. Worked out doors all the morning. Just before dinner, I changed my clothes. T.P.H. and I went over to call on Violette. They are just waiting, waiting for the boat to bring home all that is mortal of our Ruth. It is so hard for her. We came home and had supper then I worked on my Rotary speach till nearly midnight.
