Thermometer up to 91°, a record for the month. I left the office at 10 A.M. and drove to Danbury, Conn., going via Bridgeport and returning through Newtown, Oxford, Seymore then over the newly paved road to Woodbridge and to the store. I made my official visit to the Danbury Rotary Club and spoke to them then held a conference with their club assembly after the luncheon. Home to dinner tonight. Watered the garden for a long time. Howard Donovan called and showed us photos of his life with dear Ruth at Bahia, Brazil. Also let us read the little letter that she wrote all by herself as a sort of a will. In it, she told of the way she would like her possessions disposed of. She gave to Tessie her gold mesh bag and to Sarah, a little pin that we gave her when she graduated from high school.
