In Dallas, Texas. Breakfast in the Adolphus Hotel. Packed up ready for home then had lunch with Ellis on top of the Baker Roof Garden. Later, the Ellis took me for a ride ending up by taking me and my baggage to the railroad station. On the way there, we stopped at the warehouse of F.W. Devoe and Co. and looked it over. Mr. Ellis is their manager. Mix up on my reservations. My tickets were on the Frisco Line and my sleeper reservations on the Missouri Pacific. The Pullman Conductor straightened me out and I was lucky enough to have an extra reservation on the Frisco train. Left Dallas at 5-45 P.M. Had dinner on the train of course. Spent the evening reading Rotary literature. Very hot in Dallas and on the train.

(It was bothering me a little that Vernon became so close with the Ellis couple. In about a week, he went out with them four different times and only met them on the way to Dallas. It's just not something I could see myself doing with someone I just met. But Mr. Ellis working at F.W. Devoe and Co, a paint manufacturer, means that he would have a lot in common with Vernon.)
