Saturday, June 8, 1929 On board the Pennsylvania special train, "The Spirit of St. Louis", en route from St. Louis to New York and then home. Arose this morning as the train was approaching Harrisburgh, Penn. Had breakfast and then read Rotary literature till we reached New York. Came into the Pennsylvania Station and transferred by taxi to the Grand Central Station. I called up T.P.H. on the phone and heard her dear voice. Told her I was taking the two o'clock (Standard Time) train from New York. She met me at New Haven and right glad I was to see her and to get home. We called at "100 Howe Street" for Sally. She was there packing up Pete Barker's things as the boys are moving out of the apartments. I was mighty glad to see her. Petey is laid up here at the house with a cut head as the result of some horse play down at the drama school.
