A thunder shower broke the drouth of many weeks and helped the parched grass and crops a great deal. Many messages and calls of sympathy have poured in on sister Violette on the announcement of Ruth's death in the morning paper. Many friends sent flowers also. She is bearing it so bravely. Poor dear girl. It is such a blow to her and now she is waiting, waiting, to hear why and all the details. We are hoping for further news from Howard Donovan as soon as reasonable to expect it. I called on Ruth Clouse tonight. She is recovering from an operation for appendicitis. Came on just as she was preparing for her graduation at Mt. Holyoke College. I then went on over and called to see if Violette needed me for anything.
