Wednesday, May 15, 1929 Rained this forenoon then cleared and came off very warm. Mr. Chamberlain and I drown down to Greenwich this forenoon. I had to speak at the Greenwich Rotary Club at noon. Pickwick arms they have a lovely place to meet and a fine luncheon. We called on our customers at Greenwich and Stanford in the afternoon. Coming home, I left Mr. Chamberlain at Bridgeport. Came back to the store. Had supper in town then went to Calvary Church to our annual meeting. I was elected acting moderator. The meeting was most harmonious and we finished a lot of work. An explosion in the Cleveland, Ohio Clinic Hospital caused by a fire released poison gasses killing 98 persons - doctors, nurses, and patients. More are on the danger list. --- ("Pickwick arms" is a reference to The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens, where Mrs. Bardell faints from what she believes is a marriage proposal. Much cooler expression than "Holy cow" in my opinion.) [Prev](1929_05_14.md) - [Next](1929_05_16.md) <img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1QoBjitzc56yy3AqCni9PUFJUIYKl32ig">
