Friday, May 17, 1929 Very cold again today and the furnace fire that I let go out on Wednesday because it was so hot. Had to be lighted again today because it is so cold. Drove to Springfield store and took T.P.H. with me. Left her at the "Newells" where she had lunch. I attended to business at the store then called for her. Had a little visit with Mrs. Newell then we drove down home. It has been a gorgeous day weatherwise but quite cold. We had dinner at home and I worked on my church school records. The death list in the Cleveland, Ohio hospital explosion has now reached 127 people. Doctors, nurses, and patients. All of them died from gas fumes caused by a fire in the labratory. The "Graf Zeppelin" that started from Germany to sail to America had to put back to France on account of motor trouble. She had a crew of 40 and about 20 passengers.
