Thursday, May 30, 1929 In Dallas, Texas. Rotary Convention. Election today for president and directors of Rotary International. Ray Knoeppel of New York and Eugene Newsom of North Carolina were the candidates for president and Gene Newsom was elected at the Convention session. Private Harold Peat, World War soldier from Canada, was one of the speakers. He made a great plea for peace. At the discussion assemblies this afternoon, John B. Dawson of the New Haven club presented one of the discussions. The New England Dinner was held tonight at the Adolphus Hotel. Afterward, we went out to Fair Park to a carnival. Had a lot of fun. Met a young couple from New York who are now living in Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis.
