Thursday, November 7, 1929 Went in to the store early to take the switch board. Opened the mail and drove out home. Picked up T.P.H. and our baggage and drove to Amherst, Mass. to make my official visit to the Amherst Rotary Club. We went up via the college highway to Northampton then to Amherst. Had a fine meeting with the Club and Board. Drove via South Hadley and Holyoke to Springfield. Went to the Springfield Store. Later called Paul Kiezer, president of the Springfield Rotary Club on the phone. He came to the store and took us to his home. Met his wife and two children. We later came back down town for dinner and to the theatre. We had a special box at the Fox-Poli Theatre to see "Rio Rita". Enjoyed it very much. We spent the night at Paul's house.
