A beautiful day. Arose early. Took Sarah to the station for the eight o'clock train for Hartford and the Oxford School. Went to the store. Took care of my mail then drove out home for T.P.H. and we both drove to New London. Called at the Calvins, where Tess stopped for lunch with mrs. Calvin and Midge Chandler. Al Calvin took me and drove to Norwich, where I made my official visit to the Norwich Rotary Club. We came back to New London and Tess and I drove to East Hartford, where I made them an official visit at a 6-30 meeting, and we then drove home, arriving at about ten o'clock. On the way from New London to Hartford, the lights on the Packard all went out. We used a flash light as a headlight till we reached a garage.
