Wednesday, October 30, 1929 Cloudy and raw. Feels a good deal like snow. Had lunch at the Y.M.C.A. this noon and spoke to the Hi-y group of boys, all juniors and seniors at high school. All pledged to uphold the christian principles at home and at school. This is T.P.H. birthday so Sarah invited us to the "Little Tavern" out on the Cheshire Road to dinner. Peter had to go to Philadelphia to meet the head of the Philadelphia Grand Opera group regarding a position. So we three had dinner together. Miss , the proprietor of the tavern, entered into the spent of the occasion and decorated a loaf of cake, to our joy and surprise. We came away right after dinner as Sally had to be at the Yale Drama School for rehearsal. We came home and spent the evening reading by the fire side.
