T.P.H. and I got up this morning at 3:30. Dressed and drove down to West Haven to Harley's. We had a cup of coffee with them and started in his car for New York at 4:45 to meet Bert and Jess Hodges coming in on the Anchor Liner, the "Transylvania". They landed at 9 A.M. and a royal welcome we gave them. We watched interestedly while their baggage was inspected then all went up to the Pennsylvania Hotel for breakfast. Harley and Alice, Bert and Jess then started for New Haven while T.P.H. and I took a ferry across the Hudson River to Jersey City and boarded a train for Plainfield, N.J. and the Davises. Colly met us at the station and we had a happy time with them all. Baby Terry is a darling. We had supper out on the porch and stayed with them for the night. New Haven Grays 113th Anniversary Sunday. First one I have missed in twenty five years.
