Friday, September 20, 1929 Temperature again down to 40°. It was so cold in the house that I lighted our furnace fire. It was too cold for father and mother Peck. Sarah gave a tea this afternoon for Mrs. A. Grant Noble at our house and took the opportunity of announcing her engagement to "Pete". About thirty girls were here and they had a jolly time.
