Real April day. Rain and sunshine. I went in to the store early. Sarah drove in later and met Uncle Eugene Peck and Cousin Annie Peck and took them up to Hayes and Pierce to see Grandpa. She stopped for me and I came out with them and had dinner. I then drove in to the store so that the bearers could have my car. Father Peck's funeral was held this afternoon at 2-30 from Hayes and Pierce Colonial Parlors on High Street. Rev. Howard Weir of St. Paul's Church took charge of the service. Our men at the store were the bearers - Frank Spaulding, Ray Hall, Mr. Gorham, Mr. Hyde, Bert Heuson, and Franklin Clark. On account of showers, we had a canopy at the grave. Father looked fine, the same fine gentleman as he lived so he died, and thus ends another chapter of life. Ex President Hadley of Yale, who died in Japan, was buried from Battell Chapel today, burial in Grove Street Cemetery
