Friday, August 1, 1930 Another fine day. Sarah's 26th birthday today and her first birthday as a married woman. Tessie called for me at the store and we left at 4-30 and drove to Stockbridge, Mass. Some time with her on this, her day. We arrived there in time to attend the performance at the Berkshire Playhouse and then we came back to their cottage and we had ice cream and cake and Sally opened her many birthday gifts. Mother had packed for her, her special kind of cake and she brought it in with candles lighted as she has done for the past twenty years.
