Tuesday, August 5, 1930 Very hot again today, 92° and no rain in sight. Everything is burning up, especially in the West. Thermometer out in Kansas 114°. Luncheon this noon with New Haven Rotary Club at Hotel Taft. Meeting this afternoon at four o'clock of the Budget Committee of the Community Chest with Mr. Northrup and I of the New Haven County Council Boys Scouts at Union and New Haven Trust Co. Had supper downtown tonight and attended a meeting of the Broadway Association at Beecher and Bennetts'. Afterwards, Burt Judd took me up to 129 Whalley ave. to see their new business offices and shop. They have just moved from 272 Elm Street where they have been for so many years.
