Tuesday, December 23, 1930
Woke up this morning to a white world. It had snowed hard and was still snowing up to noon. Packed up my things and drove in town. Went down to the station and got my reservations for Chicago. Stopped on Chapel Street to do some errands and got stuck in the snow. Two or three policeman helped push me out. Straightened out the last few matters. Closed my desk and Mr. Chamberlain took me to the station and I took the train for Springfield and Chicago. Had two hours wait in Springfield so walked up to the Springfield store. Took the "Wolverine" train for Chicago. Had dinner on the train. Read "Ivanhoe" till midnight then climbed into my berth. Tomorrow I shall be in Chicago and with Sally. I can hardly wait to see her. Mother and Peter also there
