Thursday, December 25, 1930 Christmas Day and Mother and I are out here in Chicago with Sally and Peter. They have far less snow here than we had at New Haven when I left. We got up late. Peter did not have to go to the theatre till night. Then we all went over to the Wilby's for Christmas dinner and such a dinner. A twenty pound turkey was the center of attraction. We had such a jolly time. We had taken over some gifts for them so I acted as a second edition of Santa Claus and gave them out. We spent the evening with them then came home in time to meet Peter when he returned from the evening performance of the theatre. Sally and Peter gave me an autographed volume of "Little America" by the Admiral Byrd, the explorer. Tessie gave a pair of slippers and Harley a sweater. Violette gave us some of our silver. We have had a happy day all together. --- (There was [a telegram](<Christmas Greeting 1930 from Percy.md>) from Percy included on this page.
