Beautiful day, more like Spring. Mrs. Wood returned to the office this morning after spending a month in Florida. She is much improved in health. Drove up to Hartford this morning, had lunch with the Hartford Rotary Club, and then met with the Spring Conference Committee planning our program. Drove down home, had a meeting at the store with Mr. Jackson and Mr. Marvin of the Jackson-Marvin Co. talking over plans for the future. Chief Justice William Howard Taft resigned today on account of ill health. President Hoover promptly appointed Charles Evans Hughes to the post. Captain Gessner, one of the oldest living captains of the Grays also died today
