Friday, February 7, 1930 Developed a fine cold somewhere with a sore throat and big head. Stayed at the store all day. Had lunch at the Quinnipiack Club. To Tessie and I took Mrs. Knapp, "Polly", my Rotary Secretary, and drove out to "Waverly Inn" to the Ladies Night of the Naugatuck Rotary Club. Rev. Arthur Lewis is president and presided. Our own Jim Thiving of the New Haven Club was the speaker. After dinner, they danced and played cards. We danced a few times then came away. We took "Polly" home.
