Saturday, July 5, 1930 Back to the store this morning. Worked till one o'clock when we closed. Franklin Clark was operated for appendicitis this morning at St. Raphael's Hospital. Dr. Verdi did the job. It was a nice clean case. Would have been bad a little later. I came home at noon and loaded the Packard with Sarah's things and drove to Stockbridge. We stopped on the way and ate our lunch picnic style beside the road. Arrived there without mishap and had dinner with them. Peter was glad to have Sally back. After dinner, I helped Sarah arrange her things, hung her pictures, etc. They look fine and she is so happy. The Department Stores and all larger stores closed at one o'clock today for the first time in the history of New Haven. Heretofore they have closed on Wednesday afternoons during July and August [Prev](1930_07_04.md) - [Next](1930_07_06.md) <img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1KUBfNhC-gGRlbKSD9CRPSDaCh5UPPgIL">
