A beautiful day. Drove to the Springfield store today. Took Tessie with me. I left her at the Newells while I went on to the store. Called on several customers as well. Dr. S. Sydney Isaacs, a former New Haven Gray who served with us on the border, he was glad to see me. Stopped at Charles Newell's for T.P.H. and they insisted that we stay for dinner, which we did. Driving down home later. They had a slight thunder shower in Springfield but we found when we arrived home that New Haven and vicinity had suffered a severe wind and rain storm that had blown down trees and done a lot of damage. I worked on my speech for tomorrow night
