"O dear" the morning after and a great let down. The Barkers are with us and will stay today, for which we are most happy. Mr. Barker brought me into the store this morning and then went back out to the house. I took Sarah's wedding checks to the bank today and deposited them to the account of "Mrs. Sarah Hodges Barker", a new name to us but not a new girl. "Bless her heart". Tessie took the Barkers over to East River for a swim. They brought home oysters and strawberries and we had dinner at home. We spent the evening listening to the Sharkey-Schmeling fight in the Yankee Stadium over the radio. Sherkee fouled Schmeling in the fourth round and the championship was awarded to Schmeling. We have so much enjoyed the Barkers. We all wrote a note to Sally and Peter and sent it to Camp Arden where they are spending their honeymoon
