Sunday, June 22, 1930 Tessie and I got up early, packed our bags, ate breakfast, and started for Chicago. Drove down to the New Haven Station, left the old Chrysler at the Garde Garage and took the 9-20 train for Spfld. Arrived safely and met many New England Rotarians there waiting to take the special train for Chicago. We had a stateroom on that train and although it was very hot, we were fairly comfortable. Had lunch and dinner on the train and of course spent the night on the train. Sarah and Peter came up to the Pittsfield Station to see us as we went through. They both looked fine and were very happy.
