On the train approaching Chicago. Very hot. Had breakfast on the train and arrived about 10-30. We were registered at the Hotel Stevens and have a fine room overlooking Lake Michigan. Marion Adams, who arrived yesterday, called us and asked us to lunch with herself and the children. First afternoon session of the convention in the Ball Room of the Stevens to consider proposed legislation. Tessie and I had dinner alone tonight then went out to the Stadium Auditorium to the very wonderful concert and pagent depicting Rotary for twenty five years. Came back to hotel with Bert Comins. Had refreshments. Meeting many old friends of other years. Thermometer to 96° in shade
