Tuesday, June 24, 1930 I got up at 6-30 and attended a breakfast of the outgoing and incoming district governors at 7-30 lasting till nine. Mighty nice to meet all these governors again. First session of the convention held at Chicago Stadium Auditorium. A big crowd on hand. Lunch this noon with Thach Gurnsey regarding the vocational service assemblies. This afternoon the Paint, Oil, and Decorations Craft Assembly was held this afternoon. Sir Charles A. Mauder of England, a varnish mfg, presided. I was vice chairman. We held our New England dinner tonight at the Palmer House Ball Room and although we arrange for 275 sittings, we seated and fed 393 New Englanders and guests.
