At Chicago, final day of convention. Had breakfast with Tess at Hotel Stevens then I took taxi for the convention auditorium and Tess went shopping and over to the Goodman Theatre. The report of the election committee was read and Al Roth of Polo Alto, California was elected, defeating Ray Knoeppel of New York. Tessie and I had lunch together then packed up and checked out of the Stevens and came over to the Navy pier and boarded the South American, the big lake steamer. We got our cabin and steamer chair then went ashore and to the Union League Club of Chicago and met Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilby, Uncle and Aunt of Peter Barker. We had dinner with them then they took us out to their home in South Chicago. Later, they put us on a train and we came back to the boat
