Cloudy and showery. On board the steamer "South American" sailing on Lake Michigan. We arrived at Mackinac Island at one o'clock and went ashore and took horse drawn carriages for a ride around the island seeing the old forts erected by the British in 1780 and later taken over by the Americans. We sailed away at five o'clock charmed with the old place and its history. We immediately left Lake Michigan and entered Lake Huron on our way to Parry Sound. We had dinner then attended a church service arranged for by the hostess on the boat. Afterwards, we listened to a concert and had a sing. Going to bed early
