Friday, March 21, 1930 At the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Cooper at Pittsfield, Mass. The weather changed during the night and it is cold this morning with a high cold wind blowing. My cold is some worse and my cough is quite painful. We had breakfast with the Coopers and started for Northampton in the car. It was a beautiful drive down through the Berkshire Hills but I felt so rotten, I could not enjoy it very much. We called on our customer, J. Hugh Pierce, in Northampton then hurried on to Springfield and had lunch with the Rotary Club there. Edmund Vance Cooke was the speaker for the day and he was so fine. I spent the afternoon at the store in Springfield. Called on Mrs. Newell, who gave us hot tea, then came on home. Sarah had supper all ready for us and we ate it. I went right to bed. T.P.H. and Sally went in to the Yale Theatre to a production.
