Friday, March 28, 1930 This has indeed been a day of activities. Mr. Rho, president of the Murphy Varnish Co., called on us today and we all had lunch together at the Union League Club. Then I hurried away and went up to Beecher and Bennett's and acted as bearer for one of our Civil War Veterans, Mr. Fred Bulkley. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven. I came back to Beecher + Bennetts and Tessie was waiting for me there to take me over to Mrs. Ray Reigeluth's house to speak to the "Rotary Wives". When I attempted to start the Packard, the starter spring had broken so I had to leave Tess with the car and take a taxi for my speaking engagement. Later, Tessie came also. I went back to the office till 6-30, then down to Calvary Church to a mens dinner under the auspices of the New Haven Council of Churches.
