Sudden and severe cold wave. Thermometer down to 16°. Wind very sharp. Attended a meeting of my sub-committee appointed by Mayor Tower to help on the unemployment situation. We met at committee headquarters, 207 Orange St. Committee made up of W.M. Hotchkiss, W.T. Whitfield, Leo. Setlow, E.M. Walsh, and myself. Had supper downtown and worked at store till 9-30 on Wall Paper records. Tessie came in and brought me home in the Packard. T.P.H. called Sarah on the phone this morning at Chicago. Sally said it was below zero out there today
