Clearer and cooler today. Had planned to go to Springfield store today but had a letter from Lew Chase of Becker Smith and Page Co. that he would call on us. So I remained in New Haven. Had lunch at the Quinnipiack Club then did some errands downtown. Lew Chase came in this afternoon. Harley and I had dinner with him at the Hotel Taft then we went to the Shubert to see a new play "Gilhooley". It was very depressing. I came out home on the trolly. Sir Thomas Leptons yacht "Shamrock V" lost the last race and the series today. He is a good sport and heartily congratulated young Vanderbilt owner of the winner. Nearly all Americans hoped Sir Thomas would win. He has made five attempts and lost every year
