A delightfully cool day, clear and lovely. This is Sarah's twenty seventh birthday and we are so happy to have her here with us at "Glendean". We had a little birthday party. Just the three of us in the sun room. Mother arranged our supper there and she had made Sarah's very own kind of birthday cake. It had candles on it and "everthin". I got the ice cream down to the drug store. We did have a nice party and just to make it complete, Peter called Sally on the telephone from Stockbridge and gave her his love and best wishes. We closed the store at one o'clock. Harley and Alice, Franklin and Lois and baby Jane went up to the lake in New Hampshire. The women folks will stay all the month. Harley will spend time he can.
