Saturday, August 22, 1931 Cool this morning. Thermometer 56° but a beautiful day. Very clear. Sarah called us at 5-15 this morning, feeling rather badly but nothing developed during the day. Mother didn't want to leave her so I went in on the trolly car. Worked till one o'clock. Came home. We three had lunch then we took a ride in the Packard up to the top of East Rock Park over the new auto road. It was the first time I had been up there for many years. We came back and drove out to Mt. Carmel over the Kings Highway. We sat in the car and looked off over the hills. Peter called Sally over the phone from Stockbridge. He will come down after the show.
