Peter Hodges Barker born today - 2-20 P.M.
Sarah's pains continued to grow more intense as the night wore on and at 4-30 A.M., Mother called Dr. Musselman and advised that she go over to the hospital. Peter took her over about 5 A.M. in "Buddy" Wicks' Ford Coupe. Mother and I got breakfast and drove in town and Tessie went to the hospital and stayed all day. Sarah's pains grew worse and worse without any real result and at 1-30 P.M., after consulting and Mother's and Peter's permission, they took her to the operating room and performed a caesarian operation and brought our baby boy into the world that way. We had our dinner down town, sent a ton of telegrams and cables, then went back to the hospital and saw dear Sally for just a minute and the baby for a few more minutes. He is a fine boy. Sarah was quite comfortable tonight but very tired. I had to speak at the West Haven Rotary Club Ladies Luncheon today.
