Monday, August 31, 1931 A beautiful day, cool and clear. Took the Packard in to the store to have George repair the tire I had to change yesterday. I went over to the New Haven hospital to see Sarah and found that she was progressing nicely. I had a nice visit with her. I did not catch even a glimpse of the grandson and so the day was utterly spoiled. I went in to the Quinnipiac Club to lunch. Many of my friends were congratulating me on Peter's birth. Had supper in town then finished writing up our Wall Paper orders for the No. 1 and No. 2 Books. Then went up to the Armory and with a committee mailed out the notices for the New Haven Grays 115th Anniversary. Took them to the post office then home. Found that Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chamberlain had called and left a Bank Book for Peter Hodges Barker with $100.00 on deposit. They are so kind.
