Tuesday, December 15, 1931 Cleared off beautifully, clear and not too cold. A good day for the Christmas shoppers. Lots of people on the streets but the storekeepers complain that they are not buying much on account of the depression. Attended Rotary Club at Hotel Taft. Met again in the Ball Room. Had supper downtown tonight with Harley and Frank Spaulding. I worked all the evening on Wall Paper records. Tessie came in for me and we took home things that had accumulated for Christmas. The Winchester Repeating Arms Co. plant was sold at auctions for 4 million dollars at a receivers sale. The Western Cartridge Co. will take it over.
