Saturday, January 3, 1931 Warmer today. Ice and snow thawed quite a bit. Good skating on Lake Whitney as well as all smaller ponds. Field Marshal Joffre of France died today in a Paris hospital. He is the last of the great military leaders of France during the World War. Worked till six o'clock tonight then came home on the trolley to dinner.
