Wednesday, January 7, 1931 Very cold wind today. Lunch at the "Old Coffee House" on Orange Street as I was down town doing some errands. Went down to Calvary Church to bean supper. Stayed to prayer meeting afterwards and then held a meeting of my Committee of Twenty One, who are responsible for securing a new minister to succeed Mr. Camp. We are looking up a Mr. Sisson of Pennsylvania. Our car is still laid up so I drove one of salesmens car home tonight. We had a nice letter from Sally today from Chicago. She is feeling much more contented since our visit to her. Dr. Wilbur L. Cross, Dean Emeritus of the Graduate Department of Yale University was inaugurated Governor of Connecticut at Hartford today. He is the first democrat to be elected in over twenty years or since Governor Simeon Baldwin.
