Thursday, January 8, 1931 A beautiful Winter day, clear and cold. Drove the Chrysler, "Puddle Jumper" in town this morning. Found a phone message from Mrs. Wood that her father had died. Mr. Chamberlain and I called at the house but she and her mother had gone to Seymour. Mr. Chamberlain and I then drove on to Windsor Locks and called on Mr. Tate, a customer. Then on to Springfield store. We had our lunch at the Hotel Kimball, started home, stopped at East Hartford to see Mrs. Fitzgerald, a customer who's husband had just died. Came on down to Meriden. Stopped at Chittenden's Paint Store. Then Mr. Chamberlain brought me down home. Had dinner here. Spent the evening writing adds for Chittenden store.
