Tuesday, January 13, 1931 Clear and mild today. Attended New Haven Rotary Club luncheon at Hotel Taft today. Charlie Whittlesey was the speaker of the day, described and showed us pictures of his trip to Florida. Violette was operated for appendicitis this morning at Chapin Memorial Hospital, Springfield, Mass. Dr. Sweet operated her. It was quite successful. We hope for no complications. Poor girl has been feeling badly for a long. T.P.H. went in to Prof. Phelp's lecture then came over and came home with me in the "Puddle Jumper". We had dinner at home.
