Friday, January 16, 1931 Very cold again today. Down to about 8° above zero. Drove the old Chrysler into the store. Harley went to Springfield and expected to go to the Chapin Hospital to see Violette, who was operated last Tuesday for appendicitis. Had my lunch at Pat Rings and my supper at Longleys. Went down to the Calvary Church to our mid-Winter picnic. The children had a lot of fun and so did we. We had a letter from Sarah today. She says she has been free from nausea for the past few days. We are hoping for her comfort. Harley and Alice went up to the Springfield store today and Alice went up to the hospital to see Violette, who was operated last Tuesday for appendicitis.
