Tuesday, January 20, 1931 Snowy and slippery. Hurried into town this morning and went right to the Commericial High School for the eight o'clock assembly of the juniors and seniors to hear Dr. Charles E. Barker. There were 1200 to hear him and for three quarters of an hour, he told them how to make a success out of life. He was just wonderful and they gave him their whole attention. He spoke again at noon at our Rotary Club luncheon and again tonight at the Commercial High School auditorium on the "Greatest Job in the World" (bringing up children). Tessie and I had to go to Trinity Parish House to a recital by Phidelah Rice, who presented "David Garrick" for the Leland Powers Club of Connecticut.
