Friday, July 3, 1931 Another fine day. Very warm in the sun but cooler in the shade. Went in to the office early. Took care of things. Came out home. Got Tessie and our bags and drove to Springfield store. Had lunch in Hotel Kimball. Left the store about four o'clock. Drove over to Westfield. Called on Lucy Cosby. Chuck and Virginia were there also. Left there and drove up over Jacobs Ladder to Stockbridge to spend the holiday with Sally and Peter. The state of Massachusetts is rebuilding the road over Jacobs Ladder but it will be fine when completed. Found Sarah all right. We had dinner at Mrs. Buck's "The Laurel House". Later went with Sarah to the Berkshire Playhouse to see Peters company play "The Constant Wife". It was a fine play. Afterwards, we had a lunch and watched the young people of Stockbridge dance in the street.
