Saturday, July 4, 1931 At Stockbridge, Mass. spending the weekend holiday with Sally and Peter. Very warm here but not too noisy. We went up to the playhouse and watched the company rehearse. Had lunch then Tessie, Sarah, and I drove to Pittsfield and called on mr. and Mrs. George Cooper. They have a lovely home and garden. Came back and had dinner all four of us at "Buck's" then drove up on top of some very high ground and watched the sun set. We brought away with us three big stones for our rock garden at home to remember the place by. Came back to the book shop and waited till after the show. Then we all repaired to the village drug store for refreshments and a chat.
