Wednesday, July 8, 1931 Foggy and muggy with showers thrown in. This is the doggiest of dog days. Seeing that it is dog day time, T.P.H. took the cat Mitzie down to Dr. Tower and had her cut foot dressed. He had to put three stitches in it. Worked all day up on the fourth floor of the York Street building sorting out and destroying old office records too old to keep any longer. The New Haven Savings Bank refused our request for a first mortgage on our York Street property. We asked for it to give us more capital during this depression. Tessie called for me at six and we had dinner at home and spent the evening reading.
