Sunday, July 12, 1931 A beautiful Summer day, clear and cool and lovely. We got up, had breakfast, and went in town to church. I to Calvary and Tessie to St. Paul's. Dr. and Mrs. Sweet and their daughter were at Calvary, guests of Violette and Clayton. Mr. Blanton had a great sermon on "The Church and War". Tessie called for me and we had our dinner at the "Dutch Treat" on Church Street, just back of the County Court House. We came home and I worked on our dahlia bed all afternoon. Alice and Fred Lockwood called. Fred went back to Norwalk and Tessie took Alice up to Etta Weed Webster's to stay all night. We had our Sunday night supper out under the old hickory tree.
